I’d think I have ever been good at planning. It’s not like I am always late or doing things last minute. Anyone who knows me can tell you I hate being late. I have just never been focused on scheduling ahead what I need or want to do. It’s sort of ironic because I am always buying journals and planners. Each time I purchase one, I pull out my pile of colored pens (or buy another cute set!) and get creative about journaling my plans.
The first two days are great. I add my goals, my to do list, along with some inspiring quotes and pictures. It makes me happy and I love it. Then I forget about the planner for a week. I’ll pick it up and “start over” by re-writing my to do list. This time I promise myself to write every day. Two weeks later the journal is lost somewhere under my bed and is never to be seen again.
When I decided to start a health and wellness program, I purchased a new planner (and yes….more new PENS!). Actually, that’s not true. I purchased THREE planners. One calendar, one wellness planner, and one exercise tracker. I know what I just said about my failure at using just one. I’m feel this time is going to be different. I’m motivated!
My overall planner is a large spiral with monthly tabs. It has plenty of room for journaling and a calendar for planning. I’ve decided to use this one for fun by adding quotes, writing monthly goals, birthdays and events. I’ve been doing really well at keeping up. I can’t say I use it daily, but much better than any of my other tries.
For someone who hasn’t been successful in using one planner, regularly using all three in itself will be an accomplishment. Wish me luck!
I’ll share how I use my wellness and exercise planners in another post.
