I’ve never thought of myself as a morning person but maybe I am. During the school week, I get up at about 5:30am for classes that start at 7am. Luckily, I don’t need to snooze my alarm 232344 times. After a few minutes in bed to wake myself up, I am pretty much ready to go. On the weekends, however, I am perfectly happy to sleep in and have no problem staying asleep until 10am! So why did I get up at 7am on a Saturday to workout? I’ll thank this blog for holding me accountable today.
I read a lot about the importance morning exercise. I’m going to be honest. I don’t think exercising in the morning is my thing. These photos may be the only ones I’ll have of myself working out when the sun rises! I’m just not in the mood to exercise so early in the day and find myself far more motivated after school or in the evening.
I do, however, see how important a morning stretch can be. Especially if you are someone who is slow to get going in the morning and need a few minutes to really wake up. I don’t know about you, but I know I spend the night moving a lot. Flipping from my stomach to back, moving covers off and on, you get the idea. I guess it really isn’t too much of a surprise that my body feels a bit off when I first wake up.
Spending 15 minutes doing morning stretches felt kind of amazing. (even if I did go home and take a nap!)
Although I am still learning about morning stretch routines, I can share what I did on this particular morning. In addition to these photos, I also did some lunges and overhead stretches. I found it helpful to hold each stretch for about 3 seconds and the relax for 3 seconds. I repeated each of them 3-4 times.
