I couldn’t read about the benefits of drinking water without seeing a TON of articles that imply lemon water is the answer to all things wellness. My parents have told me the same, even though they often seem to pull out a large water bottle, slice up enough lemon for a week and drink one glass. One. And that’s it.

The articles and blog posts talk about better digestion, improved immunity, optimal pH balance, plumper skin, a boost in metabolism, improved mood….and the list goes on.

Ok. Wait. Before I go on, can we talk about my pink hair? In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I used a rose gold shampoo for pink highlights. I’m really happy with how it turned out!!

Back to lemon water….

I have always been pretty good about drinking enough throughout the day. I’ve read that the recommended daily allowance is about 2 – 3 liters of fluid a day. On most days, I don’t have any trouble drinking that much. Although I had usually add electrolyte and other flavoring packets, I admit I have not tried plain lemon or other fruits. Would they have enough flavor to make me want to drink a full bottle? I wasn’t so sure.

I only used 2 slices which was just enough to leave a slight lemon taste. Adding more would have been too sour. I did like it, but think I would use lemon more often if I infused other fruits with it for more flavor. As much as I like adding some artificial flavor to my water, I need to be better about using just fruit a few times a week.
